Jermaine Henry, better known as Crawba Genius, is an A&R Music Executive born on September 12, 1988, in the small community of Luna Field, St. Mary, Jamaica. His journey in the music industry began when he co-founded the Hitz Squad movement alongside DJ Tropical, who was affiliated with the popular radio station Hits 92 FM. This connection eventually led Crawba Genius to become the official DJ for dancehall star Charly Black.
In 2015, drawing from his vast experience in the music industry, Crawba Genius established his own record label, Crawba Production. His first major project was the Legends of Souls Riddim, which featured reggae and dancehall heavyweights such as Capleton, Charly Black, Warrior King, Lutan Fyah, and more. The label later signed its first artist, Renee 6:30, whose debut single, My Body, amassed over 6 million streams in 2019. That same year, Crawba Genius also produced Domestic Violence by Charly Black.
Expanding his creative vision, Crawba Genius explored a fusion of Afrobeat and reggae influences, drawing inspiration from Garnet Silk’s classic Mama Africa. This led to the production of African Love, a collaboration between reggae star Warrior King and Ghanaian sensation MzVee, released in early 2021.
In 2022, Crawba Genius teamed up with Channel 17 to release the Dig Road Riddim, featuring Busy Signal, Charly Black, and other top artists. That year also saw the release of several major productions, including:
People of the Country – Julian Marley ft. Charly Black
Jah Always There for Me – Busy Signal ft. Kananga
Sunday to Sunday – Charly Black ft. Its Dia
As his career evolved, Crawba Genius expanded into songwriting, assisting various artists in crafting hit songs. Some of the tracks he has been associated with include:
Fornication – Renee 6:30
Agua de Jamaica – Maluma
African Love – Warrior King & MzVee
With a passion for music production and artist development, Crawba Genius continues to shape the reggae and dancehall landscape, leaving his mark on the industry with every project he undertakes.
